What Jewellery Would ‘avengers - Infinity War’ Women Wear?
We’ve paired our favourite diamonds and jewels with the amazing women in The Avengers - Infinity War.
On April 26th 2018, the fourth instalment of The Avengers film series dropped and it was epic.
Arguably one of the most complex, gripping and vehement films that's come from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date, "Avengers - Infinity War" assembled global box office domination and grossed an estimated $640.9 million worldwide in its opening weekend (CNN). One of Diamond Heaven's favourite aspects of this film was the increasing number of kickass female heroes and villains gracing the screen. It's no secret that both the Marvel and DC universe are preponderantly male dominated, but we're finally seeing more and more women take the stage in these super hero sagas, and it's awesome. In celebration, we've paired our favourite pieces of diamond and gemstone jewellery with the leading ladies of Infinity War.
The Black Widow
Real name: Natalia Alianovna Romanova
Played by: Scarlett Johansson
Femme fatale, Russian spy and Avenger Natalia Romanova is one of the bravest, elegant and quite frankly badass women of the Avengers. Going by the made-up (props to Spiderman) superhero name ‘The Black Widow', Natalia has been enhanced with biotechnology. This means she can heal herself at an above human rate and she's resistant to aging and disease. You've probably seen this expert martial artist fend off numerous villains with an array of moves from Judo, Karate, Ninjutsu, Kenpo and so much more. She is a dexterous ballerina, world class athlete and arealist with extensive espionage training.
The Black Widow would wear a minimalist piece of jewellery that would blend into her outfit - a diamond isn't a girl's best friend if it's getting in the way of saving the world. Obviously our first choice for the Black Widow would be black diamonds. Much like The Black Widow, black diamonds have unparalleled durability and resistance. Impregnable and impervious, it's safe to say that Natalia would wear a black diamond and brilliant white Diamond ring (one of the strongest metals on earth).
Scarlet Witch
Real name: Wanda Maximoff
Played by: Elizabeth Olsen
Atoning for her past sins (remember M-Day - when the Scarlet Witch stripped almost all of the mutant population of their powers), the Scarlet Witch (real name Wanda Maximoff) is one of the most powerful Avengers, and she brings a brand new level of emotional and physical strength that's pivotal to the climax of Infinity War. Despite her anti hero/superhero name, the Scarlet Witch is actually a subspecies of human born with superhuman abilities. Her main power is the phenomenal ability to manipulate chaos magic (a power that was given to her by the demon Chthon when she was born). What makes Wanda so dangerous is that she can tap into mystic energy in order to cause reality-altering events, therefore giving her the capability to wipe any illusory reality from existence. You do not want to mess with her...
Most of the Scarlet Witch's work is with her hands, so we'd imagine her fingers to be dripping with rubies and black diamonds. This durable stone withstands heat, chemicals and light damage incredibly well - with minimal care and maintenance a ruby will last for a long time. A vintage ruby and diamond ring paired with a stackable white gold band would be perfect for this wonderful witch.
Gamora Zen Whoberi Ben Titan
Played by: Zoe Saldana
Gamora Zen Whoberi Ben Titan is the only surviving member of the Zen Whoberian species, and was taken by the Eternal Thanos when she was child and used as a weapon. Much like the other females in the Avengers, Gamora's backstory is incredibly dark - she was shown little warmth, love and kindness growing up and mastered martial arts as a form of survival. In her teenage years Gamora was outnumbered by a group of thugs who left her for dead after raping her. It was after this that she was restored back to health and cybernetically enhanced. Her powers include superhuman strength, super agility and accelerated healing. She's an elite warrior who is able to beat most of her opponents (even those with superhuman strength) in the galaxy.
To match the silver features on Gamora's face, we imagine she would have an intricate yet strong platinum necklace. Of course, this elegant necklace could also have a red ruby pendant to match her flaming locks, or a spectacular green emerald. Much like Gomora both of these jewels can withstand the elements and are incredibly resilient.
Okoye
Played by: Danai Gurira
Okoye is a member of the Dora Milaje and comes from the J'Kuwali tribe of the African continent Wakanda. Okoye is loyal to the T'Challa, the King of Wakanda. What makes Okoye such a badass is that she's a fiercely dedicated protector of Wakanda, and isn't afraid to question her King. Okoye is a staunch traditionalist, bilingual and trained martial artist. She's as fearsome with a spear as she is with her words. We LOVE her.
Strong, lively and intelligent, only impenetrable jewels and metal would suffice for Okoye. We'd imagine she'd wear a durable and lightly detailed yellow gold diamond necklace, or yellow gold bracelets with yellow diamonds. Because Okoye is passionate about tradition, we think she'd steer more towards minimalist jewellery that simply enhances just how awesome she is.
Nebula
Played by: Karen Gillan
Nebula is the sister of Gamora and adopted daughter of the Eternal Thanos. Similarly to Gamora, Nebula trained alongside her sister to become a Galaxy-Class Killer. They were often pitted against each other. Nebula is incredible in both armed and unarmed combat. She's athletic and an excellent armed and unarmed combatant. She possesses a gifted intellect and is a brilliant battle strategist. She wears blasters on her wrists that let out concussive shock waves of unknown energy and heat blasts that can instantly incinerate a human being.
We'd imagine Nebula to have white gold or platinum and blue sapphire jewellery. Perhaps a
pair of blue sapphire and diamond stud earrings. Obviously her wrist blasters will get in the way of any rings or bracelets, so that's out of the question!
